Welcome to Firehouse Detail
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce Firehouse Mobile Detail and myself. My name is Mike Sommer, and I am the owner / operator of Firehouse Mobile Detail. I have been employed full time and volunteered in the emergency services field and have been a Firefighter / EMT for over 25 years now. One of the many fire service traditions is keeping all of our apparatus sparkling clean and waxed. When the taxpayers are buying fire trucks with costs upwards of a million dollars, they are expected to look nice and well cared for..... But more than that, it’s pride of ownership to have a clean, well-maintained, nice looking vehicle.
Not everyone has the time or patience to give their vehicles the kind of attention that they need to look as good as they could, especially with our abundant liquid sunshine we get so much of!
I will come to your location while you are comfortably at home or even at work, and give your car the attention it needs to keep looking great.
I am fully self-contained with water and generator power, but connections are always appreciated! With this capability and new waterless-wash technology, I’m able to detail your car almost anywhere, with permission of property owner or management of course.
I use professional grade equipment and products from Griot’s Garage, ZEP Industries, Meguire’s Professional, P&S Detailing Products and Gtechniq. This ensures that the best and safest products are being used on your vehicles. I am an authorized detailer for IGL Ceramic Coatings and a certified Flagship KENZO Master Installer, one of 12 in the state.
I am active on several detail forums and stay up to date with the latest in products and techniques.
Several months ago I participated in a very intense training session at Griot's Garage in Tacoma. It was led by worldwide detail industry icons Mike Phillips of Autogeek in Stuart FL. and Jeff Brown of Griot's Garage in Tacoma. Jeff works out of their Indiana manufacturing facility in Research and Development. Both have developed products and techniques that have become the standard in detailing globally, and it was a great honor to learn from them!
This was a class of 10 students from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Texas, and Canada. The class involved learning the latest trends and techniques on paint correcting, compounds and wet-sanding methods. The industry has evolved and had more technological improvements in the last 5 years than in the last 50 years. As with any profession, staying up to date with the technology in detailing is paramount.
The new surfaces and new paints being offered in cars, both interior and exterior, can be severely damaged if not handled properly with the correct products.
I am dedicated to having the knowledge and skills to maintain your car in the safest manner and to give you the best results to be expected! After being a detailer for multiple dealerships and having countless side jobs over the last 30 years, I don’t think there is a vehicle that I can’t make look great again!
I really enjoy detailing and seeing the before and after and the surprise of customers’ faces when they see the final results they didn’t think were possible and you would have to see for yourself!
I offer fully mobile service to your home or office. A water tank & pump with a quiet generator lets me detail your car almost anywhere!

Weather Information

Being a mobile detailer, I rely on decent weather to be able to give your car the attention it deserves. I check weather forecasts often to be sure that there will be no problems with your appointment. However, the weather can change quickly from day-to-day. Please understand if I need to reschedule your detail due to the weather. If you have a large garage or shop to work in, please let me know! Some services can be done in a little rain, but most cannot. The same goes for extreme heat. Waxes can literally melt and polishing compounds dry out too fast on body panels that can reach 160 degrees in the sun, making them unusable. My polishers and pads can overheat as well.....as do I.
